PRESS: Personal data of almost 1 mln Russians exposed in Web

MOSCOW, Jun 10 (PRIME) -- Personal data of three Russian banks, Alfa-Bank, OTP Bank, and Home Credit & Finance Bank (HCF Bank), have been publicly exposed, and the leakage involves interests of some 900,000 citizens of the country, business daily Kommersant reported on Monday, referring to firm DeviceLock.

DeviceLock detected two leakages of data of Alfa-Bank’s clients earlier in June. One of disclosures contained names, phone numbers, addresses of residence and work of more than 55,000 clients. The whistleblower cautiously dated the information by 2014–2015.

The second leakage contained only 504 records of 2018–2019 and had passport data and account balance figures.

The daily also saw the exposed information and said it had been open since late May.

Another base, indicated as OTPbank, contained information about 800,000 people across the country.

A spokesperson for Alfa-Bank said the bank’s services in charge are checking reliability and relevance of the exposed information.
